Police Releases Elombah Editor, Tim After 25 Days

The Police Headquarters late Thursday released the Editor of Elombah.com, Timothy Elombha 25 days after holding him in detention.

In a press release sighted by BlackBox Nigeria, the Management of the online platform disclosed that though the Police was yet to state reason for the arrest of the Elombah Brothers, but an order by the FCT High Court, Abuja prompted the release of it’s editor, Mr Timothy.

It will be recalled that the home of the Elombahs was invaded in the early hours of the New Year, Monday January 1st by operatives of the Special Anti Robbery Squad. The brothers who were earlier taken to SARS operational Headquarters in Anambra State were then transferred to Abuja by road, in handcuffs. They were later handed over to the Special Tactical Squad of the Nigeria Police, a team that works directly with the Inspector General of Police.

In it’s press release, management of Elombah appreciated all and sundry that have been helpful throughout the ordeal and also revealed their trust in the judiciary system of the country to kick against flagrant abuse of the fundamental human rights, which includes freedom of speech.

Part of the speech reads; “We also hope that the Publisher, Daniel Elombah will be able to travel back to his base in the United Kingdom immediately to rejoin his family.

“Freedom of speech is an inalienable right of every person and Nigerians should stand firm against any flagrant abuse of these fundamental rights without excuses!
