The lawmaker representing Ikorodu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Babajimi Benson has doled out home solar-powered lights to households in the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
The intervention is in line with the mission of Benson — who is the Chairman of the House Committee on Defence — to light up Ikorodu Federal Constituency and provide alternative source of electricity to his constituents.
The solar-powered system includes a 50wp solar panel, four LED bulbs, a solar-powered 16″ standing fan, transistor radio, torch and adaptable charging ports to power up to 6 appliances.
According to the lawmaker’s team, the beneficiaries are majorly vulnerable people living in Ikorodu who can’t afford to power their homes, especially in communities grappling with epileptic power supply.

Since its commencement, the project has reached out to a number of communities in Ikorodu such as Ijede, Offin-Ile, Oreta, Bayeku, Igbogbo, Ishawo, among others. Over 2000 pieces are said to be billed for installation in different households.
