Just in: PDP’s Obasa finally declared winner of Ojo Reps election 

After several disagreements over rescheduled elections, the incumbent member of the Federal House of Representatives representing Ojo Federal Constituency, Tajudeen Adekunle Obasa has been declared winner of the 2019 elections.

Obasa emerged victorious despite the rescheduled elections which saw his opponent garner more votes. Obasa defeated the APC candidate, Yinka Durosinmi when the elections first held on February 23. 

However, electoral body, INEC declared that the election was inconclusive which saw a rescheduling yesterday.

In the first election, Obasa had polled 28, 691 while APC’s YMD, a former chairman of Ojo Locak Government polled 25, 545. At the rescheduled polls, YMD led by getting an additional 259 votes while Obasa got only 148 votes. 

The margin was however not enough to give APC’s Durosinmi victory as Obasa remained on top with almost 3,000 margin.

  • YMD: 25, 804 

With this development, Tajudeen Adekunle Obasa will be returning to the Green Chambers in Abuja to represent his people for another four years. 

Adekunle Obasa of the PDP; having satisfied the requirements of the law, has scored the highest number of votes, is hereby declared the winner and returned elected,” INEC Returning Officer, Dr Taibat Lawson declared.
