It was a case of a subtle transaction gone wrong as members of the ad hoc staff of the Ikorodu Local Government office of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC mostly composed of members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC was thrown into a back and forth with the electoral umpire yesterday,Thursday February 18th 2019 over certain amount of money accrued to them after last Saturday’s elections.

The aggrieved ad hoc electoral officials registered their displeasure pointing accusing fingers to the electoral umpire for failing to keep to earlier agreement of paying #8500 training fee to each member ad hoc staff on duty by recently paying #4500 which still leaves the sum of #4000 extra unpaid.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that due to the aforementioned, the affected threatened to boycott participating in the commission’s activities for the conduct of the March 9th governorship election.

BlackBox Nigeria also has it on good authority that the ad hoc team also registered their displeasure over the failure of the disbursement of a cash sum of #20,000 each provided by a popular political in Lagos state.

Although the party’s largesse not legal before the law, has continue to generate additional controversies as it was alleged that the money was intercepted and converted for personal use by certain individuals marking Ikorodu one among the 5 Local Government Areas within the state yet to be paid.

Our reliable source who pleaded anonymity, while at the Secretariat during a brief protest yesterday confirmed that an additional #4000 was to be paid them by INEC for feeding and transportation allowance but also yet to be paid as it stands.

On the political party’s largesse, a faction of the aggrieved team at the Ikorodu Registration Area Centre, RAC has it that a huge sum of money was allegedly paid by the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC across the state but 5 LGAs including Ikorodu did not benefit from.

The same source also revealed that areas like Agege, Ikeja and Yaba were already beneficiaries to this untraceable cash for purposes still unclear to the general public.

However, BlackBox Nigeria gathered that as part of effort to douse the tension, the office of the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Lagos State of INEC has ordered that the monies already distributed to some parts of the state be refunded to the political party involved.
