The Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and his wife, Olori Mariam Ajibola Ogunwusi, have welcomed a set of twin princes to the royal household.
The revered monarch announced the birth of the twins in a message shared on his official social media platforms on Friday, expressing gratitude to God for what he described as “abundant blessings” to the House of Oduduwa.
According to the Ooni, both the mother and the newborn princes are in good health.
“To God be all the glory and adoration for His wondrous works and abundant blessings once again,” the monarch wrote while congratulating the royal family and Olori Mariam on the arrival of the babies.
The birth has sparked celebrations among monarchists, traditional institutions and well-wishers across Yorubaland, with congratulatory messages pouring in on social media shortly after the announcement.
Olori Mariam, who married the Ooni in 2022, is from Kogi State and has a background in the oil and gas sector.
This is not the first time the royal household has welcomed twins. In March 2024, the Ooni and another queen, Olori Tobiloba Ogunwusi, welcomed a prince and princess.
