Ogun guber hopeful dies days after winning party’s ticket

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) in Ogun State, Prof. David Bamgbose is dead.

It was gathered that Bamgbose breathed his last on Friday morning at the Sacred Heart hospital, Lantoro in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital. He was aged 54.

His passing comes about about seven days after he clinched the PRP governorship ticket and emerged as the party’s candidate for the 2023 elections.

Last week, the politician dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after he was allegedly forced to relinquish the Ogun West Senatorial ticket.

Bamgbose’s death was confirmed in a statement issued by his personal assistant, Oduntan Olayemi.

According to Oduntan, the guber hopeful had complained of tiredness a day earlier, and was taken to hospital around Olomore. He was later referred to Federal Medical Centre in Abeokuta for further medical checks.

He was then admitted at the State Hospital in Lantoro where he was given oxygen till he passed away.

“I got back to the hospital this morning and I met him breathing too fast and heavy. I was at where I went to get him some prescribed medication that he has passed on,” he said.
