Officials Explain True Cause of Earth Shaking Explosion In Lagos

An official statement from the Igando/Ikotun Local Council Development Authority has confirmed that the loud and earth shaking explosion that threatened Lagos State residents earlier on Sunday was not a bomb but an inferno at a gas station.

According to the official statement, officers of the Intelligence department in the LCDA gathered that a gas station at Abule Ado near Satellite town after Ijeododo Town exploded at about 0845hrs of Sunday, March 15th, 2020. The explosion affected the community and other neighbouring towns.

Among the major casualties is Bethlehem College, Abule Ado, a boarding school belonging to the Catholic. While no student was reported dead, some students suffered various degrees of injuries while residents close to the inferno reported dead victims. Also, many other buildings got destroyed as glasses got shattered during the explosion.

The statement also added that officials of the Lagos State Fire Service and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency were promptly contacted but none was available as at the time of filing the report.
