Nigerians Alarmed As Accused Chief of Defence Staff Is Shot Dead In Abuja

It was a national shock yesterday when the Nigerian Air force announced the death of the former chief of defence staff, Air Marshal Alex Badeh.

Badeh, who is facing corruption charges for been accomplice to the Dasuki Gate was said to have died from gunshot wounds sustained in an attack while returning from his farm on Tuesday.

In reaction on his Twitter handle, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara referred the murder of the former military chief as gruesome, saddening and alarming.

He further expressed his condolence with the family of the bereaved and urged the required law enforcement agencies to bring to book the perpetrator.

Badeh hails from Adamawa State and also served as the Chief of Air Staff before he was promoted to Chief of Defence Staff in the Jonathan’s administration.

It would be recalled that the former Air Chief and his company, Iyalikam facing corruption trials was first arraigned in 2015 on a 10-count charge bordering on criminal breach of trust, abuse of office and money laundering to the tune of N3.9billion.

Upon discovery of fresh evidence, Badeh was re-arraigned by the anti-graft agency on July 4, 2018 on an amended 14-count charge bordering on money laundering, which he pleaded not guilty to.

Reactions has continue to follow his sudden murder from eminent personalities in the country.
