Nigerian Government warns Citizens to beware deceiving Agents in Northern Cyprus

The Federal Government had warned Nigerians to be aware of deceiving agents who had lured some young Nigerians to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus as a means of providing easy access to greener pastures, studies and job opportunities for them.

In a statement signed by the Nigeria Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Nigerians should desist from believing that TRNC provides job opportunities.

The Statement reads in part; “The attention of the Federal Government of Nigeria has been drawn to the clandestine activities of unscrupulous elements parading themselves as agents and deceiving unsuspecting young Nigerians into believing that Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, provides easy access to “greener pastures” for studies and jobs opportunities.”

Also, “it has led to an alarming influx of Nigerians into the territory in recent times and the resultant effect, being an unprecedented increase in consular cases of stranded young Nigerians in TRNC.”

However, FG advised the general public to be alert to guard against the agents in Nigeria or elsewhere, peddling admissions and the existence of unverifiable job opportunities in the TRNC.

Nigeria’s government further advises the students and their parents/guardians to carry out due diligence checks on any university or tertiary institution before applying for admission, adding that It is also instructive to be warned against the deceptive advertisement of job opportunities in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
