By Exactly one year ago, the world bade farewell to legendary Nigerian singer, Olanrewaju Fasasi popularly known as Sound Sultan.
Aged 44, the music icon died in the United States on July 11, 2021 following a battle with throat cancer. He was buried in the country in accordance with his Islamic faith. The demise of the singer who was known for his versatility and talent, no doubt, sent shock waves across Nigeria and beyond.
To mark the first year anniversary of his death, Nigerian celebrities have taken to their respective social media pages to pay tributes to the ‘Jagbajantis’ crooner.
Comedian and actor, Bright Okpocha popularly known as Basketmouth shared pictures of the late musician, with the caption: “A toast to my best friend @soundsultan”
Sound Sultan’s elder brother, Dare Fasasi aka Baba Dee paid a visit to his burial site and was seen in a video clearing the weed around the grave.
“Today I visited my late brother’s final resting place in New Jersey for his 1st year remembrance. Death is a debt we all owe, always remember nobody is leaving this world alive. Rest on Olanrewaju Fasasi you had a great run, we love you and may Almighty Allah grand you Aljana friduas,” he wrote.
On-air personality, Oladotun Kayode professionally known as Do2dtun described the late music icon as an “angel”, adding that he misses him.

Former NBA player and D’Tigers captain, Olumide Oyedeji penned a heart-melting tribute to the singer on his Twitter page.
He wrote, “If the people we live are stolen from us, the way to have them live on is to never stop loving them. Best friend 4ever,that’s what we said and 4everlast long after we dead. Continue to rest in Almighty Allah Sound Sultan RIP.. @Soundsultan.”

Meanwhile, the family of the singer has released the last album he was working on before his demise. The body of work is titled “Reality CHQ”.
