MSSN LASU Epe launches maiden edition of annual publication, ‘The Guide’

The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, Lagos State University, Epe Campus, has launched the maiden edition of its annual publication, “The Guide”.

The publication is described as a launch pad for school leavers, undergraduate and recent graduates from states across the country who are seeking inspiration and looking to explore opportunities and creative advice from individuals who have stories to share on how to get better with their faith, career, academics and social life.

The virtual launch event was held on Monday via popular video conferencing platform, Zoom. It had in attendance distinguished personalities from around the globe, some which include Amb. (Dr) Sowemimo Abiodun, (CEO, InfoMetriQ Data Network, CapitalMetriQ Bank), Dr. Muyideen Muhammad, (a Canada-based Medical Practitioner and Founder, MyCareHut), Dr. Balqees Banire, (Post Doctoral Researcher at the Hamad bn Khalifa University, Qatar) Engr. Adewale Jawando (Managing Director, Acumen Development Limited), amongst others.

Also in attendance were participants from tertiary institutions across Lagos State as they listened to the invited guests who shared quality advice on how to Live Above The Bottom Line in line with the theme of the magazine.


The maiden edition of “The Guide” which was launched for the 2020/21 academic session was specifically given the theme with hopes to help readers who are seeking to get clarity on what exactly their bottom line is, how to get better at choices or goals they set for themselves, help them get inspired from a few individuals through helpful career tips, importance of knowledge, and exposure on how they could secure existing career and academic opportunities globally.

This edition of the publication featured writers from few notable institutions within and outside Lagos and reputable individuals like Dr. Babajide Milton Macaulay, CEO, iLLUMANIA and Wadi Africa who shared tips on securing global scholarships; Barakat Oyerinde, Dubai-based Product Designer who shared her experience on transiting into the tech space; Raheemat Rafiu, founder, the Graduate School Hub who talked about available scholarship opportunities globally and how to get started.

The Amir of the society, in his remarks, appreciated the guests and declared “The Guide” to be an highly anticipated annual publication of the society.

Also speaking at the virtual launch, the immediate past Amir, under whose administration the magazine was worked on, disclosed that the magazine is not restricted to any age bracket, institution or religion but rather for anyone willing to learn from a diverse pool of astounding and highly revered personalities who have shared worthwhile messages on how to be better at what they do.

The Editor of the magazine disclosed that in the editorial preface themed, “Living Above the Bottom Line”, the authors focused on explaining what it means to live above the bottom line.

“The magazine talks a lot on topics that directly translate to our everyday life from struggling to get good grades as a student to achieving the right amount of spirituality to please ALLAH, and progressing further in our careers. For anyone that reads this in its entirety, you will become so different from the person you were before embarking on this journey. You will also be able to say you have been guided towards living above the bottom line,” he was quoted to have said.
