Nigerian born Bola Oyetunji becomes Auditor-General of Australian state

By April 2024, Nigerian born Bola Oyetunji will be resuming as the Auditor-General of South-eastern Australian state, New South Wales. He will be taking over from Margaret Crawford who is completing her 8-tenure.

An alumni of University of Ife now known as Obafemi Awolowo University, Mr Bola Oyetunji has spent over a decade in the Australian National Audit office holding top positions which includes Senior Executive Director before being appointed Group Executive Director.
He has also worked with top auditing firms like Deloitte, Erst & Young amongst others.
BlackBox Nigeria discovered that following his graduation from Ife, Mr Oyetunji further studied at the University of New South Wales where he obtained a Masters in Commerce, Banking and Finance in 1999.

While making the announcement on the NSW website, the Premier of New South Wales, Christiana Minns disclosed that Mr Oyetunji’s “extensive experience across all levels of government will be valued highly in this important role.”

He revealed further that “under Mr Oyetunji, the Audit Office will continue to ensure public money is used to achieve the best outcomes for NSW.”

An elated Oyetunji also spoke about his elevation saying it was a great honour to be appointed as the next Auditor-General.

“I am committed to the integrity and independence required of the role in holding government and state agencies accountable for how they govern and use resources under their management. I look forward to serving the NSW Parliament in this capacity,” Oyetunji further disclosed according to the NSW Government website.

BlackBox Nigeria also gathers that the Nigerian government has reacted to Mr Bola Oyetunji’s appointment.
In a statement by the Chairman/CEO of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri Erewa, Oyetunji’s “appointment is a confirmation of the resilience and competence of Nigerians living abroad thus making the country proud of them”.
