John Okafor, better known as Mr Ibu, has cried out for help from the public in a bid to pay his medical bills as he is currently in a hospital.

It was learnt that the popular Nollywood actor requested for financial assistance from his hospital bed on Wednesday.

Mr Ibu bloomed again during the election days in Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election as he rocked his bod for Mr. Peter Obi, the standard bearer of the Labour Party (LP).

As seen in viral video obtained on his Instagram page, Mr Ibu could be heard saying that he has been sick for many weeks and has had the hospital as his new home for days.

According to him: “While I am hoping for prayers and assistance, as I speak to you I am still lying down in the hospital. The medical director of this hospital said that in case his new idea does not work, the next idea is to cut off my leg. Just see me, if they cut off my leg where would I go? Pray for me, I don’t want my leg to be cut off, thank you so much, God, bless you.”

Similarly, his family (Okafor’s wife and daughter) joined the plea, calling on Nigerians not to forget them in their prayers and aid the family with financial support as to keep Okafor back to a healthy life.

The daughter of the actor claimed that she has been covering the medical expenses throughout her father’s illness.

In her words, “I’ve been the one handling the bills and I am financially drained, we can’t do it alone. He’s not getting better, some days it looks like he is and other days it looks like he is getting worse. We are still at the hospital and they want to transfer him to another hospital because he is not getting better. We want to appeal to Nigerian individuals or organisations to please fly daddy abroad for better treatment. This is not the first time daddy is down like this.”
