The House of Representatives has summoned singer Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, to appear before its Committee on Justice, Youth and Legislative Compliance on October 31.

The committee wants to question him about the musical rights of his late protégé, Ilerioluwa Aloba, who was popularly known as Mohbad.

Mohbad was a former artist under Naira Marley’s record label. He died on September 12, 2023, under mysterious circumstances.

The Lagos State Government has ordered an investigation into his death.

The House also invited Mohbad’s manager, Jiggy Adeoye, to appear before the committee.

The invitation followed a motion moved by Babajimi Benson, a lawmaker from Ikorodu Federal Constituency, Lagos State.

Benson called for a review of the laws governing the entertainment industry to protect artists’ copyrights and royalties.
