By Monkeypox epidemic breaks out in Nigeria, disease goes viral in Bayelsa
More than 10 people have been infected with Monkeypox in Bayelsa with about 50 others now under watch.
BlackBox Nigeria has learnt that a medical doctor and 10 others have been affected with the epidemic which is transmitted from rodents to humans.
According to the World Health Organization, while it is similar to smallpox, Monkeypox is a rare disease which can be fatal when humans are affected.
The 11 affected persons are now in isolation at the Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital, Okolobiri in the Bayelsa State capital, Yenagoa.
