The prestigious & Oluwo-inspired beauty pageant, which was set to hold a day after 2018 Ileya Festival, has been postponed to December, 2018.
In a statement, the organisers of the pageant said the event will now be coming through by year ending and towards annual Iwo Day celebration for more spice.
“This is due to re-branding, economic twist, logistics and it’s value attachment to Iwoland occasions.” the statement read.
The brand is currently being transformed to accommodate new inovations and for a greater value to contestants, host communities(AYIWOLA) and associates.
“The MiWL contest was launched last year 2017 under Odun Ara Heritage Festival as the celebration of Iwoland cultural harmony, which was memorable with awards for celebrities, eye-chatching exhibition, dance and drama amid funfair,” the statement said.
As the main convener of the annual youth empowering pageant, Mike Halim (McOlumiko) and his steering committee encourage youth, community developers, traditional rulers and selling brands’ owners to assist the planning committee to achieve the joint goal of showcasing Iwoland talents to the world for socio-economic development.
“Well! So far, we have received entries from 10 young, cultured and ambitious models to compete for the Oluwo-inspired title of Miss Iwoland 2018 edition” the organisers said.
Further details on the event will be continuously shared with the public as first batch audition(Online/Face to Face) is set to hold during Ileya Holiday/Sept. 2018.
