Former Super Eagles captain, John Mikel Obi has had his contract terminated by Kuwait SC after spending four months with the club.

The ex-Chelsea star joined the Kuwaiti side on a free transfer back in July. Despite being appointed as the captain of the club after signing, he never made his league debut aside participating in the AFC Cup.

Kuwait’s exit made it the second time Mikel Obi’s contract extension will be terminated. During his stint at Transborspor, Turkey, his stay was shortlived after refusing to play for the team during the pandemic period.

With reason yet unknown, Kuwait SC made the announcement of Mikel’s contract termination via their official social media page.
