Following the sack of Ole Gunner Solskjaer, Manchester United has shown interest in acquiring the service of PSG boss, Mauricio Pochettinho.
The Argentine have been strongly linked to the Manchester United job. From the onset, he was on the radar of the Red Devils after Jose Mourinho’s departure. However, the impressive start of the then interim boss Ole Gunner Solskjaer pulled Pochettinho out of the job race as the former was made a permanent coach at Old Trafford.
According to MirrorUK, the 48-year-old Argentine was the original favorite to take over from Jose Mourinho in 2018. But Solskjaer’s interim stint, which included a win over Pochettinho’s Tottenham at Wembley, was enough to get the Norwegian the Old Trafford job.
However, things had already went down the hills for Solskjaer, giving the Manchester United’s board of executives no other option than to get a new coach. Pochettinho has once again been tipped to pickup the job.
The former Tottenham boss, despite having a star-studded PSG team, had for long revealed his frustration over the PSG job. He seems desperate for a return to England with Old Trafford looking like his potential destination.
Though he endured five seasons without a trophy with Tottenham, Pochettinho’s vast experience of the Premier League made him the leading candidate for the managerial post. His EPL journey started with Southampton which he made a formidable team and threat to other Premier League clubs. His stint at Southampton provided the likes of Sadio Mane, Adam Lallana, etc.
Pochettinho’s style of football appears to suit United’s tradition, making the move more logical. Providing that Manchester United paid the £10 to PSG for compensation, the club can have the long awaited manager.
At the moment, Michael Carrick is the interim boss as the team prepares for the Valencia game.
