Manchester United has finally ended their six years trophy drought following a hard fought 2-0 win against Newcastle at the Carabao Cup final played today.

The Eric Ten-Hag- inspired Red Devils marched to the Wembley Stadium to secure their first silverware since their 2017 Europa League win under former manager, Jose Mourinho.

Newscastle’s impressive display was not enough to deny Ten Hag his first taste of trophy-all thanks to two first half goal from Casemiro and Sven Botman’s own goal.

The Red Devils had to wait till the 33rd minute to break the deadlock as Luke Shaw’s free kick found Casemiro who headed the ball past Newcastle’s goalkeeper, Loris Karius.

Manchester United have won the English Football League Cup for the sixth time in their history with their first dating back to 1992 under Sir Alex Ferguson.

Six minutes after, Manchester United doubled the lead courtesy Sven Botman’s deflection of Marcus Rashford’s attempt on goal.

The ball slipped past Karius, marring his first game for an English Club since his 2018 Champions League Final howler for Liverpool.

Newcastle tried to get back to the game in second-half as they dominated the game while creating goal scoring opportunities which were denied by Manchester United’s back four.

Meanwhile, today’s victory implies that Manchester United have won the English Football League Cup for the sixth time in their history with their first dating back to 1992 under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The Red Devils have, however, been suffering dwindling fate since Sir Alex Ferguson retired with only Jose Mourinho appearing to be the most successful among the four managers who took charge of the club before the arrival of Eric Ten-Hag.

The former Ajax manager has, ever since his appointment, returned Manchester United to their winning ways with his efforts now crowned with the return of sliver ware to Old Trafford, bringing The Theatre of Dream back to the good old days.

Interestingly, the Red Devils currently sit third in the English Premier League table with the possibility of earning the Champions League spot next season.
