Loan Saga: Innoson Boss, Innocent Chukwuma Rejects EFCC Release, Demands Reasons For Arrest
The loan saga involving owner of indigenous car manufacturing plant, Dr Innocent Chukwuma is not coming to an end soon as he has refused leaving the Lagos office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission following his arrest in Enugu State on Tuesday.
In a statement signed by Cornel Osigwe, the company’s Head of Corporate Communications, the Industrialist demanded to know the reason for his arrest by the anti graft agency before accepting been released. He also added that Dr Innocent was never invited by the Commission.
In addition, he faulted the report by the EFCC that thugs were hired to disrupt the arrest of Dr Innocent at his residence on Tuesday, as he disclosed that members of staff of the plant mobilised en mass to the resident of their Chairman after they learnt he was about to be arrested.
He disclosed that heavily armed security officers had besieged the property of the Chairman at about 5am which forced him to stay indoor till he was sure of the people that came to see him. He said prior to the Tuesday invasion, his boss was never invited for questioning as earlier claimed by the agency.
Mr Osigwe also alleged that Police officers attached to the agency fired tear gas canisters at the protesting workers, it claim it has pictures to back up it’s claims. He concluded that his boss later left the Lagos Office of the EFCC after reading the official press release of the agency.
