Lagos Unveils 20 COVID-19 Test Centres, 2 In Ikorodu Division 

 

As part of efforts to reduce community spread, the Lagos State government under the Incident Commander, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved 20 COVID-19 test centres in 20 Primary Health Centres in the state. 

 

Two of the test centres are located in Ikorodu; Ita-Elewa Primary Health Centre and Igbogbo Primary Health Centre are the designated centres.

 

As of the time of initiating the testing process, 306 Index cases have been identified in Lagos State, 93 of which have recovered and 13 deaths regrettable recorded.

Lagos state is the epic centre for the novel virus in Nigeria first recorded its first victim on February 27, 2020, when an Italian citizen became the first index case. Since then, despite the extraordinary precautions of the Incident Commander, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and resilient sacrifices of frontline medical staff, the curve of incidences have been on the rise.

 

In Nigeria as a whole, we have 542 cases, 166 recoveries and 19 deaths. Yesterday, one of the most important personalities in Nigeria, Mallam Abba Kyari, the former Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari was silenced to death by the virus in Lagos. 

 

So far, Lagos State has been on 3 weeks lockdown as dictated by the federal government to allow for contacts tracing in the metropolitan city and its adjoining neighbourhood Ogun State.
