The Lagos State Government has stepped in to take over the medical care of Adebola Akin-Bright, a 13-year-old boy whose small intestine allegedly disappeared while he was undergoing treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu personally visited Akin-Bright and his mother, Mrs. Deborah Abiodun, at the Pediatric Ward of LASUTH to address the concerning situation.
This move comes after Mrs. Abiodun made an urgent appeal for help via social media under the “Save Our Souls” (SoS) banner, requesting an investigation into the mysterious disappearance of her son’s intestine during medical treatment at LASUTH.
LASUTH’s management swiftly responded to these allegations, asserting that no organ or structure was intentionally removed from Akin-Bright’s body during the corrective surgery he underwent.
The hospital clarified that the surgery revealed unusual findings, and there is video evidence of these discoveries.
The mother, however, appeared to be in denial regarding these findings, according to LASUTH.
Governor Sanwo-Olu, after listening to both Mrs. Abiodun and the doctor overseeing Akin-Bright’s care, emphasized that the top priority is to save the young boy’s life.
In a heartfelt response, Akin-Bright’s mother expressed her gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his visit and for taking charge of the medical care of her promising son.
