Lagos East senator, Abiru celebrates outstanding teachers, doles out gift items at award ceremony

The Senator representing Lagos East Senatorial District, Distinguished Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru, on Wednesday, joined the Lagos State Education District 2 which covers Ikorodu, Kosofe and Somolu zones in celebrating exceptional teachers who have distinguished themselves in the discharge of their duties at the 16th Annual Merit Award Ceremony held at the popular Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu.

Abiru was represented by his Special Adviser on Constituency Matters, Dr (Otunba) Saheed Oladapo Ibikunle who informed the teachers and other invited dignitaries that the Senator placed huge premium on education which explains why it gets a pride of place in his constituency interventions.

According to him, aside from the 7KVA giant generators, 200 Litre deep freezers and laptops were donated to outstanding teachers and pupils, the Senator has impacted the education sector in the district in no small measure.

Ibikunle drew the attention of the teachers to 24 fully equipped classrooms with 16 toilets facilitated at Aga Primary School, Ikorodu, Blocks of Classrooms at Ajelogo Primary, one block of two classrooms at Methodist Primary school, Oke-Eletu, Ijede, two blocks of classrooms at Isheri Primary School, Ikosi-Isheri, a fully equipped computer Laboratory at Igbobi Junior High School, Somolu and the award of bursaries to 600 tertiary institution students across the district, among other laudable achievements of the distinguished Senator.

The Special Adviser also spoke on the Senator Abiru Innovation Lab (SAIL) in conjunction with Co-Creation Hub(Cc-Hub), a dedicated innovation and tech lab that is providing relevant technology, business and digital skills to tech enthusiasts and young entrepreneurs across the Lagos East Senatorial District.
