In a swift move, men of the Lagos State Command of the Nigerian Police led by the Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi have arrested and detained the driver of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) that a 22-year-old fashion designer, Ayanwole Oluwabamise boarded before her reported murder.
The driver identified as Nice Andrew Omininikoron who had been on the run after he linked to murder of the said lady, is now being quizzed by the police.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adekunle Ajisebutu vowed that the killers of the deceased would face justice.
News first broke out that Ayanwole, who was returning to Ota in neighbouring Ogun state from Ajah, got missing in transit while onboard the BRT bus. She was since declared missing by her family before her remains were recovered.
The Lagos police, in a statement on Monday, disclosed that her abductors dumped her corpse on the Carter Bridge by Ogogoro Community. Her remains have been deposited at the morgue of the Mainland Hospital, Yaba, for autopsy.
“Notwithstanding the death of Oluwabamise, the detectives handling the case would not rest on their oars until her killers are found.
“We, therefore, assure the concerned public and the bereaved family that we are closing on on the culprits and we are sure that soon the suspects would be arrested and made to face justice for this murderous act,” the statement said.
