The division rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State might be resolved soon as an appeal committee will hear petitions of the different factions on Monday.

The crisis can be traced back to July 31 and September 4 when aggrieved groups in the Lagos APC held parallel ward, LGA and State Congresses, producing separate lists of party executives.

Recently on October 16, the crisis took another phase when parallel State Congresses were held by different groups in the state.

Against this background, the Chairperson of State Congress Appeal Committee, Fatima Umar, in a statement on Sunday, announced that the committee would hold the special meeting at the party’s secretariat on Acme Road, Ikeja, at 4pm on Monday.

Umar said, “The State Congress Appeal Committee, Lagos State invites all party stakeholders to a special meeting of leaders and members of the party.”

According to her, the meeting would be attended by members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), National Assembly, State Party Executive Committee, Principal Officers of the Lagos State House of Assembly and 20 Local Government Area (LGAs) Caretaker Executive Committee Chairmen.

Attendance for the meeting will also include 10 Commissioners/Special Advisers from the Lagos State Executive Council, 20 LGA Council Chairmen, 20 Legislative Council Leaders and 20 ward chairmen (one from each LGA).

Umar added that the meeting would also have 20 members each, from groups that submitted petitions to the committee. Petitions such as Lagos4Lagos Movement, Conscience Forum, etc.

Meanwhile, she urged the petitioners to submit their petitions at the venue of the meeting.
