A high-ranking monarch in Oyo State, the Soun Of Ogbomoso Land, Oba Jimoh Oladunni Oyewumi JP CON, CFR, Ajagungbade III, has died.
It was gathered that 95-year-old breathed his last in the early hours of Sunday. While details about circumstances surrounding his death are still sketchy as at time of filing this report, sources within the palace say the monarch died following a brief illness.
The entire Ogbomoso community have since been thrown into mourning as indigenes and sympathisers thronged the palace to condole with the deceased monarch’s family.
Oba Oyewunmi ascended the throne of his ancestors on October 24, 1973, and was regarded as one of the longest reigning monarchs in the country.
