JUST IN: ATIKU WINS AMBODE’S WARD
Report just reaching our situation room has it that the presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, has won the election at Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State ward, defeating President Muhammadu Buhari.

Though the governor was able to deliver his Polling Unit as promised to the President but was unable to influence the electorate in his ward to vote massively for him.

In a report by Vanguard Newspapers, Ambode’s Ward A5, polling unit 033, Ogunmodede College in Ajaganabe Area, Papa Epe, Buhari polled 131 votes as against People’s Democratic Party, PDP candidate, Atiku Abubakar, who polled 116 votes. Ambode, however, could not deliver his ward for the party’s Senatorial and House of Representatives candidates.
Even with the win at his polling unit, the result at the ward announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC wards returning officers in Epe, it was revealed by that the governor could not deliver his ward to the party.
At the ward, the Collation officer disclosed that the APC presidential candidate polled 2367 votes as against the 2511 votes which Atiku had. Also, the PDP senatorial candidate, Abiodun Oyefusi, defeated the APC candidate, Bayo Oshinowo, by 71 votes, which was PDP 2557 and APC 2488 votes.
The PDP candidate vying for the House of representatives seat, Oye Ayantuga, also won the governor’s ward, polling 2597 while Wale Raji, the APC candidate had 2438 votes after the election.
Meanwhile, Atiku could not sustain the momentum as he could only win another ward, Lagbade ward 2, increasing it to two out of the 19 wards under Epe Federal Constituency. At ward 2, the PDP presidential and other candidates polled more votes than their APC counterparts.
According to the returning officer, Atiku polled 1044 votes while Buhari had 824 votes. The PDP senatorial candidate also had 1087 as against Oshinowo who polled 935. Ayantuga also polled 1023 votes while his major opponent, Raji, could only poll 855 votes.
But in other 17 wards, President Buhari and other APC candidates were already leading their closest rival, Atiku and other PDP candidates.
