The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said that more than 90% of the A level results that were presented by candidates to process admissions into higher institutions were fake.

JAMB registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede made this known at a workshop organised by the Board and the Premium Times Academy, on Tuesday.

Oloyede, who was represented by JAMB’s Director of Legal Services, Dr AbdulWahab Oyedokun, said that the examination body had taken a major step to ensure that fake A level results were not used to secure admission into tertiary institutions in the country.

The JAMB registrar also said the examination body’s focus on developments around IJMB and JUPEB has resulted in the arrest of over 47 proprietors and lectures of universities who were caught running these programmes in the past year.

He equally disclosed said that the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu had approved the establishment of A level data bank which will help in fishing out fake results and ensure integrity of these certificates.
