The House of Representatives is in mourning following the passing of one of its members, Hon. Olaide Akinremi (APC-Oyo), who died early Wednesday morning after a brief illness.
Aged 51, Hon. Akin Rotimi, the House spokesperson, expressed deep sorrow in a statement, describing Mr. Akinremi’s death as a profound loss. known as ‘Jagaban,’ he represented the Ibadan North federal constituency under the APC banner.
Hon. Akinremi was a lawmaker in the 10th Assembly and served as chairman of the House Committee on Science Research Institutions until his demise.
Speaker Tajudeen Abbas of the House of Representatives remarked, “His passing is a great loss to the House, his constituency, and the nation. We will miss his leadership, wisdom, and the unique passion he brought to his work.”
Throughout his tenure, Hon. Akinremi advocated vigorously for policies promoting social welfare, economic growth, and scientific research. His active participation in legislative debates and committee activities underscored his dedication and diligence.
