Senator Solomon Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has disclosed that he had planned to appoint late veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, as his Special Adviser on Entertainment if elected governor of Ogun State.
Adeola, the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Ogun State, revealed the plan while speaking about the death of the 66-year-old actor.
The senator said Ogogo’s contribution to the creative industry and his commitment to Ogun State made him a natural choice for the proposed role.
Ogogo died on August 23, 2026, after battling stage-four cancer. His death triggered widespread tributes from colleagues, fans and political figures.
Yayi had earlier supported the actor during his illness, helping to facilitate medical attention and contacting cancer specialists when the family sought assistance.
Following Ogogo’s death, the senator also commissioned a large billboard in his honour, describing the late actor as a friend and brother whose memory would remain cherished.
Adeola said he would still seek ways to immortalise Ogogo and preserve his contributions to Ogun State’s entertainment and cultural heritage.
The disclosure adds another dimension to the senator’s relationship with the late actor, whose family recently publicly thanked Yayi for standing by Ogogo throughout his illness.
