Ikorodu Teachers Embark on Chess Training for enhanced classroom engagement

Eighty teachers from Nigeria Union of Teachers, Ikorodu Division, participated in a chess training session aimed at enhancing their cognitive abilities and improving classroom engagement on Tuesday at the Teachers House, situated within the NUT Ikorodu Secretariat premises.

The training, titled ‘Chess for Ikorodu Teachers,’ was orchestrated by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ikorodu branch, led by Comrade Oluwafemi Fakolade, Jp in collaboration with the Ikorodu Chess Club.

Posting on its official X handle on Thursday, 1st February, IKORODU CHESS CLUB announced the partnership with the NUT, Ikorodu division in training the selected teachers.

“On the 30th of January 2024, we partnered with the National Union of Teachers and @Chesstoschool in introducing the game of chess to the teacher’s ikorodu division,” the statement read.

The chess training, held on Tuesday, witnessed educators actively engaging in strategic gameplay to foster critical thinking skills. The partnership between NUT Ikorodu and the Ikorodu Chess Club underscored a commitment to enriching the professional development of teachers in the region.

The event not only promoted intellectual stimulation but also emphasized the significance of incorporating innovative approaches to education.
