IKD 106.1 FM announces job openings — how to apply

The first community radio station in Lagos State, IKD 106.1 FM has announced job opportunities for the roles of Radio Station Operations Manager and On Air Personality.

The Operations Manager is expected to supervise the daily operations of the station. Duties include coordinating and managing
administrative and operational activities, offering necessary support to deliver on the
station’s programming. The Operations Manager shall also oversee the advertising and sales department of the station. He/she will be accountable to the General Manager and Senior
Management staff, and also strive to maintain the work environment, image, and
financial viability of the station.

Job Responsibilities:
 Working in adherence to broadcast standards and in compliance with NBC codes and Federal and State laws and regulations
 Maintaining accurate records, regularly preparing and communicating reports
 Actively participating in defining short and long-term goals, policies, and procedures while monitoring all activities to identify necessary changes
 Maintaining a diverse staff in line with the station’s mission
 Delivering assignments; recruiting, scheduling, training staff and resolving employee concerns
 Handing all complaints, questions or requests regarding the station
 Developing budget plans and operating within their parameters
 Networking with other businesses, agencies and organizations to increase the advertisement share of the station

Qualification and Skills/Competence Requirements:
 A good tertiary institution degree
 A good radio voice

 Team spirit
 Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 Public speaking skill
 Strong interpersonal and organizational communication skills
 Extensive knowledge of all genre of music
 Strong knowledge of current affairs

Important requirement:
– Applicant must be resident in Ikorodu or – close proximity to Ikorodu.
– Applicant must be able to speak Yoruba fluently.

The radio station also is seeking On Air Personality – authentic Yoruba and English speaking and English and Pidgin speaking.

Job Description:
 Creatively develop programmes for assigned belt to suit station demographic
 Moderate panels or talks shows on various relevant topics in line with NBC rules.
 Coordinate games, contests, or other on-air competitions, performing such duties as asking questions and awarding prizes.
 Conduct proper research and get background information in order to prepare adequately for programmess or interviews.
 Comment on and present facts to listeners on various issues – Artists and their music, tours, weather, traffic, politics, current affairs, etc.
 Interview show guests about their lives, their work, or other topics of interest.
 Answering calls during live programmes; hold conversations and attend to call-in listeners’ enquiries during the show.
 Ensure scheduled adverts/commercials are played in line with traffic schedule
 Record and report failed adverts to the appropriate department
 Responsible for announcing commercials, giving weather and traffic reports and
updates
 Adhere strictly to NBC rules relating to delivery of hypes, talks, etc.
 Assisting with voice-overs for the radio station.
 Engage the audience on all the station’s social media platforms and ensure the integration of on-air and offline. i.e. always updating digital platforms in line with ongoing on-air programmes.
 Ability to operate the control board (Audio Console) while anchoring live programme
 Making special public appearances on behalf of the station and promoting the station’s brand.
 Regularly attend and be part of both station and company’s meetings and events.
 Adhere strictly to rules and procedures as set by management.
