The PBAT-KOH Diaspora Canada Team has reaffirmed its support for President Bola Tinubu and Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, advocating continuity in governance during the 2026 Ijebu Day Canada celebration.

The event, held on October 10, 2026, brought together community members and leaders to celebrate Ijebu heritage and discuss leadership, political participation and Nigeria’s future.

Speaking at the celebration, Otunba Yinka Thanni said continuity in governance was important for sustaining development, consolidating policy gains and achieving long-term progress.

Thanni expressed support for the leadership of Tinubu and Hamzat, saying consistent policies and citizens’ participation were necessary to advance development.

He also urged Nigerians in the diaspora to encourage their families, friends and communities back home to participate in the democratic process and make informed choices during elections.

Also at the event, Mr Adewale Omitiran engaged community leaders and other stakeholders on issues of leadership, unity and Nigeria’s future.

The organisers said the participation of Omitiran and Thanni reflected the team’s efforts to strengthen connections between Nigerians abroad and their communities at home through stakeholder engagement and voter awareness.

Beyond its cultural significance, the annual celebration provided an opportunity for members of the Ijebu community to strengthen social ties and discuss issues affecting Nigeria.

The PBAT-KOH Diaspora Canada Team said it would continue to promote unity, political participation and its call for continuity in governance.
