With the celebration of Chief Sunday Adeyemo’s temporary release from detention in Cotonou, Benin Republic still in the air, the Yoruba Nation activist has revealed to his close associates how he was visited by one of PDP presidential aspirants during his dark hours.
According to Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, he was visited by veteran journalist and media mogul, Dele Momodu as the information was said to be confirmed by one of Chief Adeyemo’s friends, News Direct reported.
Igboho, who was released based on health grounds by the Benin Republic Government, stated that Chief Momodu took a great risk by seeing even when some powerful people were afraid to speak for him.
“I was very surprised that Chief Momodu could do this when many big people were even afraid to speak up for me. He prayed for me and told me to be calm and await God’s intervention. He said all he wants is peace and that he will reach out to every part of Nigeria,” Igboho said.
Although, the actual date of this visit remains unknown as it was not revealed but in what could be considered as a proof, Chief Momodu went on to his Instagram page to express his joy following the release of the Yoruba Nation activist.
He wrote, “Last night, I was overjoyed to receive the news of CHIEF SUNDAY IGBOHO ADEYEMO’s release from detention in Cotonou and I immediately reached out to him via WhatsApp. The original OMOLUWABI responded with an effigy of prostration and ‘Thanks so much sir.’ I will continue to engage critical stakeholders wherever they may be.
“May the good Lord grant our leaders the wisdom to accommodate and seek peace with every Nigerian.”
However, confirming the claims to be true on his Instagram page on Wednesday, Chief Momodu said it was nothing as he has also been shown such support when he was arrested during the June 12, 1993 crisis.
“Multiple sources have told me CHIEF SUNDAY IGBOHO ADEYEMO has told them of my nocturnal visit to him in Cotonou… For me, it was not a big deal. I remember how many Nigerians risked everything to support me when I was arrested and detained at ALAGBON LAGOS in 1993 over the June 12 crisis.
“I have just read the report of my visit in Opera News and truly humbled. Nigerian leaders have a lot to learn from The Madiba DR NELSON MANDELA in seeking for peace and reaching out to those who are not happy with the unnecessary division and the breakdown of law and order in many parts of our great country,” the PDP presidential aspirant said.
Momodu seized the opportunity to call on the Nigerian government to look into the case of the embattled leader of separatist group IPOB Nnamdi Kanu and find a possible solution.
“I’m asking the Federal Government to speedily reach amicable settlement with Igbo leaders over MAZI NNAMDI KANU. The suffering in Igboland as a result of this impasse is absolutely excruciating and highly regrettable..,” he added.
Recall that Sunday Igboho and his wife, Ropo Adeyemo, were arrested on July 19, 2021, by the International Criminal Police Organisation at the Cadjèhoun Airport in Cotonou, Republic of Benin, while on their way to Germany.
Although, his wife was released later but Sunday Igboho remained in detention.
But, on March 7, 2022, he was released based on the conditions of that he won’t leave the medical centre or Cotonou, under any circumstances, BlackBox Nigeria reported.
