Hate Speech: Police arrests Twitter user who tweeted “let’s kill all the Igbos”

28-year-old Kehinde Adesogba Adekusibe has been apprehended by the Police in Oshogbo, the Osun state capital BlackBox Nigeria has gathered.

He was arrested based on a post he made on Twitter weeks ago calling for a mass action against the Igbos. This was as a fall of banters following debates that came up after the 2023 elections which pitched many people against themselves as a result of their political choices.

Adekusibe had on May 18, 2023 taken to Twitter where he posted,

Let’s kill all the Igbos Let’s flush them out of Yoruba lands. I hate these people with passion. They are violent people. They a the worst.They hate us. Let’s hate them without holding back. 

According to a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the suspect was arrested for violating the social media policy on hate speech.

“Immediately, the Police Command received the report, Police detective from the Cyber crime section at SCID Osogbo swung into action, and through intelligence led investigation, the suspect was arrested at Ilesa where he hibernated,” Adejobi disclosed.

The Police further revealed that the suspect has confessed to the crime and would be charged to court when investigations are concluded.
