Professor Cyril Osim Ndifon, a suspended dean of Faculty of Law at the University of Calabar (UNICAL), has been reportedly kidnapped by gunmen.
It was gathered that about 8 gunmen stormed his residence situated at Akpabuyo around 1am and carted him away.
A family source, who spoke to journalists, said that 10 heavily armed men jumped over the fence into the compound and went straight into his room, picked him up, dragged him into a waiting van and zoomed off.
“The incident happened between the hours of 12:00–1:00 a.m. on Thursday while we were asleep. We heard a bang on our door, and a voice shouted we should open the door or else they would blow the door open if we did not open it at that moment.
“Without dilly-dallying, ten heavily armed men jumped over the fence into the compound and went straight into Oga’s room, picked him up, dragged him into a waiting van and zoomed off,” the family source said.
Recall that it had earlier been reported in August reported that female students of the faculty of law at UNICAL staged a protest in the university to demand the immediate removal of Ndifon for alleged sexual harassment.
A probe panel set up to investigate the issue later found the senior lecturer guilty and he was said to be suspended.
