Grammy Awards: Key Takeaways to Know About Burna Boy

Nigerian mega star, Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, better known as Burna Boy, has made history with his recent nomination at the 66th edition of the Grammy award nominations.

In this piece, the BlackBox Nigeria highlights some things you might have missed about the Afrobeats pop master.

1. Burna Boy is the African artist with the most nominations at the 66th edition which is now four by now.

2. He has officially become the Nigerian artist with the most nominations in the history of the award with at least ten.

3. “Sittin’ On Top of The World” becomes the first African song to earn a nomination in the Rap category.

4.  Burna Boy becomes the first Nigerian artist to earn a nomination in 5 consecutive years as from 2019 till today.

The superstar rose to stardom in the Nigeria’s entertainment industry in 2012 following the release of  “Like to Party”, the lead single from his debut studio album L.I.F.E (2013).

In 2017, Burna Boy signed with Bad Habit/Atlantic Records in the United States and Warner Music Group internationally.

His third studio album Outside (2018) marked his major-label debut.
