FG Holds Interactive Session With Lagos State N-Power Volunteers

Top officials of the N-Power project on Thursday had an interactive session with Lagos State volunteers of the project to address issues surrounding delay in payment of monthly stipends. The team was led by Senior Special Adviser to the President on Job Creation and Employment, Mr Afolabi

The meeting was held at The Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja area of Lagos. Also in attendance at the session were some officials of Lagos State Government led by the Commissioner of Woman Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs Lola Akande.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered that the officials from Abuja addressed issues surrounding non payment of monthly stipends, disqualification of members among other burning issues.

It will be recalled that the Lagos State chapter of the project held protests earlier in the year as they called on Governor Akinwunmi Ambode to help interface why the State volunteers were yet to be paid, just as other States have started receiving payments.

The N-Power project is a programme launched by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to cater for unemployed Nigerians as it was planned to get them engaged in different sectors of the economy with stipends paid to them monthly.

The officials stated that some of the volunteers had irregularities in their registered names just as BVN mismatch was also witnessed which resulted in non payment of the stipends. An email was then provided where complaints can be sent to for quick resolution.

A BlackBox Nigeria reader who was present at the session disclosed that all volunteers with issues related to their change of name, irregularities in account details among others were advised to forward their complains to support@npvn.desk-mail.com and Support@npvn.ng

Below is the final brief that was concluded on after the session as shared by a volunteer…

6. Some people didn’t get paid due to fraudulent activities of individuals. A case was noted where a cafe operator tried circumventing the stipends of 8 volunteers. I can’t say if he succeeded. This is a note of warning to our lazy volunteers that sit at home and send their friends etc sensitive info to operate for them. The internet is for everyone to explore.
