FG Declares Monday, September 16, as Public Holiday

 

The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday to celebrate Eid-ul-Maolud

Thie announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on his official X page today

In his address, Dr. Tunji-Ojo conveyed warm congratulations to the Muslim Ummah across Nigeria and abroad

He stated the importance of the occasion, encouraging all Nigerians to embody the values of patience, sacrifice, and resilience that the Prophet Muhammad exemplified.

“As we celebrate Eid-ul-Mawlid, it is a time for us to come together in prayer, seeking enduring peace and prosperity for our nation,” stated Dr. Tunji-Ojo.

Eid-ul-Mawlid, observed in the month of Rabi’ al-Awwal according to the Islamic calendar, marks the birth of the Prophet Muhammad. It is traditionally observed with prayers, reflections on the Prophet’s life and teachings, and acts of charity by Muslims worldwide.
