Ethiopian Air Crash: Senate Declares Worries Over Boeing 737 Max 8 Series, Mourns 2 Nigeria Casualties

ETHIOPIAN AIR CRASH: SENATE DECLARES WORRIES OVER BOEING 737 MAX 8 SERIES, MOURNS 2 NIGERIA CASUALTIES

BlackBox Nigeria reports that the senate today after resumption plenary took out time to mourn the demise of two illustrious Nigerians who were victims of the ill-fated Ethiopian airlines crash of Sunday, March 10th 2019.

The upper chamber of the National Assembly also emphasized the need for the country to protect its airspace from the Boeing 737 Max 8 series pending the determination of its air worthiness by Senator Olugbenga Ashafa led committee.

In his comment, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa who joined other colleague in hailing the virtues of the deceased, commended the Federal Government for barring the operation of the aircraft series in the country’s airspace.

 

 

“As we mourn these illustrious, eminent and distinguished sons of Nigeria, I want to commend the Ministry of State Transport for barring the 737 Max 8 Aircraft. We should use the opportunity to develop our own national airline.”

 

Sanator Biodun Olujimi, described the current moment as not the best of time for the country and emphasized the need for the country to have stringent regulations to monitor its airspace and ensure safety.

 

“These are not the best of times. We need to own our own national airline so that we can have our own regulations to monitor our own aviation laws.”

 

As plenary proceeded, the general house observed a one minute silence in honour of the tow distinguished Nigeria who passed away as victims of the shocking crash.

 

The senate in the close of the joint session, commended the Federal Ministry of Aviation and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority for moving swiftly in mitigating the operations of the Boeing 737 Max 8 and 9 series aircraft within the Nigerian Airspace in order to ensure the safety of all Nigerians.

 

 

Without leaving any stone unturned, the lawmaking body finally appealed to the Federal Ministry of Aviation and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority to ensure that all aircraft operating within Nigeria are air worthy in order to keep Nigerians safe at all times.

 

Recall that BlackBox Nigeria had earlier reported the death of Professor Pius Adesanmi and Ambassador Bashiru who were both Nigerians and casualties of the crash that took the lives of other nationals to a tune of 155 lives.
