The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has provided an update from its Kogi State office, shedding light on the suspension of elections in several locations.
The primary concern arose in nine out of 10 wards in Ogori/Magongo Local Government Area (LGA), where result sheets were completed before voting began.
Similar incidents were reported in Adavi, Ajaokuta, Okehi, and Okene, with a total of 16 affected polling units across these areas.
INEC has duly accounted for the results from these units in Form EC40G for the respective LGAs.
However, in Ogori/Magongo LGA, only the results of Oshobane Ward II, comprising eight polling units and 2,264 registered voters, have been collated.
Elections in the remaining nine wards, involving 59 polling units and 15,136 registered voters, are currently suspended.
Fresh elections are scheduled for Saturday, November 18, 2023, in these affected polling units.
The decision to conduct fresh elections is contingent on the Returning Officer’s determination of the Margin of Lead Principle.
