The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has apprehended popular Lagos socialite Emeka Okonkwo Daniel, known as E-Money, for allegedly abusing the Naira note and defacing foreign currencies.
According to reports, sources within the commission confirmed his arrest at his Omole, Lagos residence on Monday night.
The allegations stem from his alleged spraying of United States dollars, an act purportedly in violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.
Preliminary investigations are ongoing, and E-Money is expected to be charged to court once the investigation is concluded.
He is reportedly being flown to Abuja for further questioning.
When contacted for comment, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale declined to confirm the arrest.
However, sources close to the matter reportedly confirmed E-Money’s arrest and subsequent transfer to Abuja.
