The ousted Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, has taken up residence in the mini palace on Nasarawa Road in Kano, disregarding the order for the Kano State Police Command to arrest him.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf issued the arrest order on Saturday morning. Bayero returned to Kano early on Saturday and was received by a crowd of supporters at the Kano Airport.
His return to the city is seen as an attempt to reclaim the Kano Palace, a move considered a threat to peace and frowned upon by the State Government.
Subsequently, the State governor ordered Commissioner of Police, Hussaini Gumel, to immediately arrest the deposed Emir for what was perceived as defiance against the state government.
Nevertheless, the embattled Emir Bayero has relocated to the Nasarawa Palace, accompanied by his supporters. As of now, he has not made a public statement regarding the developments in the Kano Emirate.
