By Why Dangote Is Not Buying 9Mobile Or Etisalat Nigeria
The richest man in Africa and the chief executive officer of Dangote Group, has finally revealed the reason behind his not getting involved in Nigeria’s telecommunications industry.
This recent revelation, BlackBox Nigeria gathered puts to rest speculations that the Nigerian businessman wants to acquire troubled 4th mobile telephony company in Nigeria, 9Mobile formerly known as Etisalat Nigeria.
In a recent interview with Bloomberg, Dangote said that he has no interest in the telecoms industry because he did not invest at the right time, noting that some business minded folks have invested about 17 years in the industry making it not friendly to new investors.
“When I look at telecom, for instance, I think that would be very tough for us. We are a little late. Some players have been in this market for 17 years already. There’s no way you can go and jump over somebody after 17 years of their hard work. So I think we would pass when it comes to telecom today, ” Dangote said in the interview.
