Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote has been named among the 100 most influential people in the world for 2026 by TIME Magazine, reinforcing his global standing in business and industry.

The prestigious annual TIME100 list, released on April 15, recognises individuals shaping the future across business, politics, technology and culture.

Dangote, founder and president of the Dangote Group, was listed in the “Titans” category, which highlights influential figures in global business and leadership.

In his profile published by TIME, Nigerian businessman Tony Elumelu described Dangote as “indefatigable, resilient, and foresighted,” praising his long-standing commitment to building industries across Africa using local resources.

The recognition marks Dangote’s second appearance on the TIME100 list, having first been honoured in 2014 for his impact on business and philanthropy.

As Africa’s richest man, Dangote has built a vast industrial empire spanning cement production, sugar refining, fertiliser manufacturing and, more recently, petroleum refining, investments widely seen as key to reducing import dependence and boosting local production across the continent.

His inclusion alongside global figures such as Donald Trump, Xi Jinping, Pope and Sundar Pichai underscores his continued influence on global markets and economic development.

The 2026 TIME100 list features leaders, innovators and changemakers from around the world, reflecting a broad spectrum of influence across sectors and regions.

Dangote’s return to the global list more than a decade after his first inclusion highlights the sustained impact of his business ventures and his growing role in shaping Africa’s economic future.
