Chelsea Lifts Premier League Trophy With Two Matches Left

The pride of London, Chelsea Football Club on Friday night gathered the necessary points to clinch the 2016/17 Premier League trophy after defeating West Ham United.

The Antonio Conte’s men maintained their top league flight till substitute, Michy Batshuayi scored the only goal of the match in the 82 minutes, giving his side the early victory.

The win over West Ham positioned Chelsea 10-points clear from Tottenham Hotspur who is on the second position. With just three games left and possible maximum of 9 points to be gathered, it was an early victory for the Blues.

It will be recalled that the London side had a rather shocking campaign in 2015/16 campaign which left them in a devastating position in the League table. But the drive to win soon came with the new Manager, Conte.

Chelsea’s consistency at the top position of the English League can also be tied to the fact that the club participated in less number of competitions, with less games to play, they had more focus to deliver.

This is the sixth time the club will lift the trophy, the victory has since shoot them back to be favourites in the League and will now feature in the 2017/18 campaign in European football.
