One Abdulbasit Umar, 22, a student of the Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, Adamawa state, has been arrested by the Taraba state police command for aiding the kidnap of his 10-year-old sister, Amina Umar.
The suspect, alongside two other accomplices, Sadiq Sani and Abdullahi Habib, were said to have demanded the sum of N10m as ransom to free Amina.
The states command spokesman, DSP Daid Misal, disclosed that operatives of the state investigative bureau arrested the trio enroute to collect a ransom of N4m which the later settled for.
Umar, while speaking to pressmen, said he kidnapped his sister because he needed the money to study abroad.
“My aim was that after collecting the money, I would proceed with my education abroad”.
