In spite of widespread criticism across the country in the face of Nigeria’s toughest economic meltdown since the return to democracy, President Muhammadu Buhari has proceeded on an 18-day leave which begins with immediate effect.
The President BlackBox Nigeria learnt is headed for the United Kingdom where he is reportedly going to seek medical attention.
Taking to social media moments ago, President Buhari disclosed that he has notified Senate President, Bukola Saraki as well as the Speaker of the House of Reps. He further revealed as stipulated by the constitution, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo will be acting as President while he is away.
“I’m traveling to the UK today on a short leave, part of my annual vacation. I’ll be back at work on February 6. I have formally notified the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in line with the Constitution. Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo will act as President while I’m away,” President Buhari posted on Facebook.
