Breaking! Popular Nigerian Canada Based Professor, Pius Adesanmi Is Dead

After confirmation from three different family members, a close friend and a Canadian official, Popular Nigerian-Canadian Professor, Pius Adesanmi is confirmed dead.

BlackBox Nigeria gathered from a report by Sahara Reporters that Adesanmi who was a Professor of English at Carleton University in Canada until his death was on the Ethiopian Airlines plane that crashed in the early hours of today Sunday, March 10th 2019.

Recall that BlackBox Nigeria had reported earlier on Sunday morning that an Ethiopian Airlines flight between Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and Nairobi, the Kenyan capital, crashed, killing 149 passengers and eight crew members aboard, making a total of 157.

 

 

It has now emerged that Adesanmi, a native of Isanlu, in Yagba East Local Government area of Kogi State, was among the passengeraway

 

Adesanmi was very vocal in criticising issues happening back home in Nigeria even while away

 

Recall also that BlackBox Nigeria had also reported that Nigerians were unsure if truly Adesanmi was onboard the illfated Aircraft as his phone was still in network reception.

 

However, his current employer, Carleton University in Canada has also confirmed that the erudite scholar is indeed dead.

Pius Adesanmi was a Nigerian-born Canadian professor, writer and literary critic, satirist, and columnist. He is the author of Naija No Dey Carry Last, a collection of satirical essays.

 

According to Wikepedia, Adesanmi had a BA (first class honours) from the University of Ilorin in 1992, a Masters in French from the University of Ibadan in 1998, and a PhD in French Studies from the University of British Columbia in 2002.

 

From 2002 to 2005, he was Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature at the Pennsylvania State University, USA. In 2006, he joined Carleton University, Ottawa, Canada as a Professor of literature and African studies.

 

 

Until his death, Adesanmi has been a regular columnist for Premium Times and Sahara Reporters. His writings are often satiric, focusing on the absurd in the Nigerian social and political system.
