By Breaking! Globacom Finally Acquires 9mobile
After several months of bidding, Glo has finally acquired troubled telecoms company, 9mobile, BlackBox Nigeria can report.
It will be recalled that since mid 2017, Nigeria’s fourth largest telecommunication company, Etisalat ran into several bad debts with it’s bankers which forced the investors to dumb the company. The company was then taken over by Central Bank of Nigeria, after it settled a consortium of banks which Etisalat Nigeria was owing.
The CBN later unveiled a new management and brand name, 9mobile, thereby maintaining all subscribers of the company.

Months after the take over, news went viral again about a possible purchase of the company . Big names such as Dangote Group, Otunba Mike Adenuga’s Glo, Airtel among others.
Others include Airtel, Black Rhino Group, Smile Telecoms Holdings, Helios Towers, Centricus Capital and Africell, Teleology Holdings Limited, Ericsson among others.
BBN gathered that the top bidders were then asked to submit their bids in private with the company with highest bid to take over 9mobile. In early December, in house sources disclosed that the new owner of the company will be announced in January after all the bids have been submitted.
